Our Country's Birthday

After our great day at home we ventured out to Downtown Tuscaloosa for the fireworks show. They have a family oriented area that we checked out too. The girls jumped in a "jumpoline" and we walked around. There was a really big fire engine there too. It was nice getting out and about but we missed our fireworks buddies this year since they were at the beach (the Lawson crew) so we enlisted Nana & Pappy!! The girls did great until the fireworks actually started. Then they retreated to Nana's van. The noise was a little too loud for my sound sensitive munchkins. Mommy, Daddy, Nana and Pappy enjoyed them though. Tuscaloosa actually puts on a pretty good show each year. This is our 3rd or 4th year going to the Fireworks show here. And without any disrespect we do hope its our last since we are still waiting for someone to make an offer on the house. Keep on praying that it sells soon. Anyway, on the way home Clara Paige had lots of questions about our country's Independence day and why we shot fireworks and why they were hot and on and on. The easiest explanation was that it was our country's birthday. I think she kinda got it after that. Not sure if she ever got the idea of what fireworks really are though.
We had a pretty interesting weekend also I guess you could say. Friday I went to B'ham to get the skirt altered that I am wearing in Emily Jone's wedding in August. After that we went to Aldridge Park to meet up with our good buddies Rachel, Emily and Bailey. We thought it would be a good time for me and Rach to catch up and let the girls wander around and play. Needless to say, we were sooooo wrong. The trip just seemed doomed. Clara Paige had some tummy troubles, Bailey re-arranged some of the plant markers and we had no idea where to put the Caloomba Peritus sign or whatever the little maker said, several girls cut their fingers on a dried up plant and poor little Gracie dropped a really large flat rock on her big toe. It was pretty awful. That pretty much ended the play date pretty quickly. It's all blue and swollen but after nursing it pretty heavily on Saturday my little trooper decided she was tired of missing out on all the playing so she learned that she could hobble along and keep up with her sissies. Its not broken so I think she's gonna be just fine but wow what a day at the Park!! Today we just hung out at the house and Daddy cut grass. It was nice not having a big weekend planned. Now on to see what this week will hold for the Hicks family. Love to all!!!

Sounds like y'all had a great week and weekend, except poor Gracie! I saw your mom and dad yesterday at worship and then Cracker Barrel. Love the pictures!
