We have officially started our 1st and 3rd grade years at the Hicks household at Creek View Elementary. Actually my baby girls started last Thursday. They were so excited! And we all did so well this year. Not a one of us was anxious or teary eyed at all. I was not allowed to walk them into their classes (by their request) and although I felt a tiny bit sad, I was so much more proud of how independent they were about it all. We were so very excited to learn that Clara Paige has Ms. Hayley Ramires as her teacher this year. This is for 2 reasons. #1 reason is that I've known Hayley most of my life as we grew up in the same church together. #2 being that Hayley teaches the ALL GIRL 3rd grade class. So CP will get to experience 3rd grade a little differently but I think she's gonna love it!! There are at least 7 or 8 of her best friends in this class and I'm quite confident Ms. Ramires can handle it! Should be lots of girly fun for her. ALSO, my twinkies are in separate classes for the very first time in their whole lives. And honestly, I'm convinced that the timing was right on the money for it. Neither Maggie, Gracie or Mommy was sad or anxious about it. I was curious to see how they would do but they are eating up the individual time they have and I'm thinking it will make them appreciate the time they get together more. Maggie has Ms. Vines and is so happy that she has all kinds of critters in her class this year like fish and hamsters. I think somtimes she lets the hamsters run around the class floor in their little ball! Gracie has Ms. Turner and from what I hear she's a great teacher with lots of hugs which fits my Gracie Goose just right.
SO starts another school year in our household and I think it's going to be a pretty darn good one!! Monday, August 15, 2011

An all girls class, what fun!! A hamster in his ball rolling all over a first grade classroom equals lots of giggles and excitement!! And hugs are the best! Sounds like 2011-2012 is off to a terrific start!
All girls...I have read studies that say it is a very good thing.I will be interested in what you think at the end of the year.I am betting you will think it was great! Love you
